FAQ
FAQ about lash extension
How eyelash extensions get applied?
Lash extensions are applied as you rest comfortably on an aesthetic bed with your eyes closed. Relaxation is key to ensuring a smooth application process. Some clients even fall asleep during the application and awake to exquisite, voluminous lashes.
Please arrive to your lash appointments with clean, dry lashes, free of eyes make-up and oils. Do not curl or perm your lashes or apply eye creams or mascara the day before and the day of your appointment. Please refrain from drinking excessive fluids or caffeinated beverages on the day of your appointment.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please come to your appointment with NO make-up or mascara on. This reduces the time it takes to get started on the application so we can get right to the exciting part!
How far in advance should I book my appointment before my wedding, or travelling?
If this is your first application of lash extensions we recommend booking a full set about 6 – 8 weeks before your wedding date or departure date. This will allow time to experiment with different sets, learn proper care and ensure that you have no allergies to the lashes or adhesive. Once you are confident in your ideal set, we will book a fill one week before your wedding or departure date to ensure that your lashes are perfect.
How long will my eyelash extensions last?
On average, lash extensions last anywhere from 5 to 6 weeks, and up to 8 weeks depending on the extension style and technique and the shedding pattern of your natural lashes. Typically, the lash growth cycle is every 60 – 90 days.
We recommend that you come in for a refill within 3-4 weeks to maintain the shape and fullness of your lashes.
Are there any risks associated with eyelash extensions?
With any application, a very small percentage of clients may have an allergic reaction to the extensions. However, our bonding agent and lashes are of the highest grade to ensure that they are suitable for those who may have sensitive eyes. If you do have any allergies specifically relating to any ingredients in beauty products, kindly let your technician know and she will proceed accordingly.
How do I maintain my lash extensions?
DO’S
-
Keep your lash extensions dry for 12 hours
-
Wash lash extensions regularly with lash and face cleanser
-
Rinse thoroughly and gently
-
After cleaning, brush lashes with a mascara wand
-
Let your lashes air dry (do not pat using a face cloth or any cotton materials)
-
Use oil-free products around eyes (if necessary)
-
For eye cream usage, apply 1 hour prior to sleep to prevent any contact with lashes during rest
-
To remove any excess make-up residue, use sponge-tipped applicator (DO NOT use Q-tips)
DON’TS
-
Avoid being ‘rough’ with lash extensions
-
Do not rub, pick, or pull on lash extensions
-
Avoid putting pressure on your lashes during sleep. Use a protective sleep
mask if possible -
Do not use Q-tips or cotton pads! Irritation to eyes may occur from loose
cotton -
Do not trim or cut your extensions
-
Avoid applying any chemical treatments/peels (lash tinting or
perming) and laser treatments within 48 hours -
Mascara not recommended
Can I still wear mascara and curl my lashes?
We generally do not recommend wearing mascara because when it is not properly removed it can create build-up on lashes and the lash line. This can lead to quicker shedding of lashes.
It is a big no-no to curl lashes after an application, since the curler will ruin the shape of your extensions and damage the adhesive.
How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?
Lashes are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed in a cozy, warm spa bed. It can take about 1.5 to 3 hours for a full set and 1-2 hours for a fill. After cleaning and priming your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with an eye pad or medical tape and the lash extensions are applied with medical-grade adhesive. It is a very relaxing, non-invasive procedure and most clients fall asleep!
SIGNS OF AN INCORRECT EYELASH EXTENTION APPLICATION
Many times we have had customers tell us that they’ve had eyelash extensions done previously and they were very uncomfortable and did not like them. The following are ways you can tell whether an application has been incorrectly applied:
-
The adhesive is visible
-
There are missing eyelashes (large, visible gaps due to improper application) between lashes
-
The lashes feel uncomfortable
Are eyelash extensions are for everyone?
While eyelash extensions are suitable for nearly everyone, they may not be for people who:
-
have a condition called Trichotillomania, resulting from compulsive pulling or twisting of the hair, brows or in this case, eyelashes
-
have a tendency to rub their eyes a lot
-
have an eyelid or eye condition
-
are in regular contact with chlorine
Will lash extensions cause natural lashes to fall out?
No. Our highly trained eyelash technicians take proper precautions during the application, and with proper maintenance on your part your extensions will remain adhered to your lashes until they fall out naturally.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?
Yes you can! If your overall maintenance is upheld you can shower, swim and exercise as you normally would.
Are lash extensions really maintenance-free?
While lash extensions are low-maintenance compared to the daily application and removal of mascara, you still need to maintain them to increase their longevity. Daily washing and grooming will make your lashes appear fuller and last longer.
Can I wear makeup if I get eyelash extensions?
Yes! You can certainly wear makeup, just as long as it’s oil-free and you remove it properly every night. Talk to your technician about water-based mascara approved for lash extensions.
Will I be able to feel eyelash extensions just like fake eyelashes?
With high-quality lashes that are properly adhered, you shouldn’t be able to feel a thing!
FAQ about lash lift
Can I wear mascara after getting a lash lift?
You can wear mascara and any make up 24 hours after getting a lash lift. By then, your lash lift shape is no longer malleable and will stay curled through water and heat.
Can I get my lashes wet?
For the first 24 hours, use cold water to clean the eye area. After that, you can take hot showers, go to the sauna, and your lashes will be fine!
Will a lash lift damage my lashes?
There are 2 ways to curl your lashes: physically and chemically. The physical approach is when you use a lash curler or heat to break the weak chemical bonds that make up the protein chains in your lashes. Physically curled lashes relax throughout the day and only last until your lashes get wet or come in contact with heat. Also, curling your lashes everyday with a lash curler can break the outer protective sheath of the lashes and make them prone to breakage and look thinner.
The chemical approach, such as a lash lift, alters the stronger chemical bonds (disulphide bonds) that make up your lashes and creates a permanent curl until the lashes fall off naturally. During a lash lift, a perm cream is used to break the disulfide bonds and allow keratin molecules to move freely and adjust to their new shape. Then a neutralizing cream is added to reverse the effect of the perm cream. New disulfide bonds form and the keratin molecules are locked into place with a new curled shape. The curl lasts for 6-8 weeks and this process is a healthier alternative for your lashes compared to clamping your lashes everyday with a lash curler.
How long does a lash lift last?
A lash lift creates permanently curled lashes, but the results last 6-8 weeks. Why? In about 8 weeks, your curled adult lashes will grow old and fall out. New baby lashes will peak through and return back to your natural state.
How do I take care of my lashes?
It’s easy! Clean your lashes as usual.
How often can I get my lashes re-lifted?
Most of our clients get their lashes re-lifted every 4-8 weeks. If your hair and nails grow fast, you may want a lash lift closer to the 4 week mark. Also, some months you may experience a shorter lash cycle due to pregnancy, postpartum hair loss, health conditions, menstrual cycle or fall/ spring hair sheds. In these cases, you can get your lashes re-lifted before 6 weeks.
My lash lift looked great the first few weeks, but now it’s starting to look twisted and uneven.
As new lashes grow out of your eyelid, the curled parts of your lash lift get pushed out further. It’s the same concept as when you apply nail polish and watch it grow out in a few weeks. The exact same process happens with your lashes. Your lashes are constantly growing and shedding. Be sure to brush your lashes with a lash brush and use castor oil on your lashes everyday (it really works!). Use a lash serum to extend your lash cycle and schedule a lash lift every 6-8 weeks.
I’ve had a bad lash lift from another place, can you fix it?
If you had a bad lash lift recently, it is best to reach out to the lash studio that gave you the service. This is because they're familiar with the products and techniques they used on you and should know how to reverse or fix your lash lift. If you want to try a new place for a lash lift, it's recommended to wait 6 - 8 weeks after getting
your lash lift so your lashes can rest and grow out.
I had a lash curler accident and cut off a section of my lashes, will a lash lift make my lashes look better?
A lash lift enhances what you naturally have. Unfortunately, if you have gaps or shorter lashes on one eye, the imperfections will be more noticeable. For example, if you notice that the lashes on your right eye are much shorter than the left eye, we recommend waiting for your lashes to grow for a few more weeks before getting a lash lift.
I am pregnant, can I get a lash lift?
Yes.

FAQ about brow/lip tattooing (PMU)
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Permanent makeup (also known as Micro Pigmentation) consists of implanting natural pigments under the superficial layers of the skin by means of a small, sterile micro-needle, to create a lasting cosmetic definition of the lips, eyes, and eyebrows. Micro Pigmentation can also be used correctly, in areas where hair or colour is missing.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM PERMANENT MAKEUP?
If you are allergic to traditional makeup, are physically active, have sparse, thin or faintly coloured eyebrows and lashes or have a problem with applying or smearing of traditional makeup. Permanent makeup may also be used to camouflage scars and correct skin discolorations such as vitiligo. Individuals with alopecia (abnormal hair loss) and recovering cancer patients can benefit from cosmetic or reconstructive tattooing.
DOES IT HURT?
This may vary according to each individual’s pain threshold. Topical anesthetics, specially designed for permanent make up are applied before and during the procedure and reduce the discomfort greatly.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
For between four to six hours, the area treated will be slightly reddened and a bit swollen. The eyelids can remain puffy for 24 to 48 hours in about fifty percent of cases. Immediate use of ice gel packs will greatly reduce and sometimes eliminate swelling. The lips stay swollen for about three days. The eyebrows have minimal swelling. For approximately 5-7days, the permanent makeup appears somewhat obvious, dark, and intense. By day seven, the top layer of the skin will flake and peel, leaving the color softer. Do not alarm by fading after the first application. The second appointment is to penetrate and lock the color into the dermal layer of the skin.
HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP ACTUALLY LAST?
Permanent makeup fades more rapidly on the face than on the body as it is permanently exposed to daylight. Ideally, the color should be touched-up every two or three years depending on how well the pigment holds. The fading process varies from individual to individual according to body chemistry and lifestyle. With some people, permanent makeup fades after a year while with others there is no change after ten years. Usually light color fades faster than a dark color. Post-procedure touch-up is highly recommended because it helps the ability to retain the color.
IS IT SAFE?
Yes, if it is done in accordance with Safety Standards. Our Studio strictly follows Public Health Guidelines. This includes: brand new single-use sterile needles removed from their packaging in view of the client and are discarded after each use into an approved sharp container. All supplies required for micropigmentation are single-use as well and assembled and set up immediately prior the procedure. All parts of the equipment that can not be disinfected or discarded are covered with a single-use plastic film barrier. A new disposable mask and apron are worn, and gloves are new and clean for each client and changed during the procedure as needed. All of these precautions insure everyone’s safety.
HOW LONG DOES A PROCEDURE TAKE?
It takes one hour and a half or two hours to apply the color. A full face procedure takes 4-5 hours. The pre procedure process or consultation takes extra half an hour when we discuss the result you wish to achieve selecting the appropriate style, shape and color, that match to your skin tone, hair and eye color, measuring the proportions of your face, adjusting asymmetry of the features and perfecting the lines drawing on.
